And ‘Just spend a weekend in Amsterdam to incorporate the message loud and clear: in the Netherlands Girl Power is stronger than ever and exercises its charm without brakes.
The champion of this rebirth is called contemporary Olcay Gulsen, authentic Fun Fearless Female. At age 34 rests her stilettos on an Empire fashion called Super Trash, created once, years, it was only 23. We know, the name may be misleading, but nothing is as it seems.
With 16 flagship stores in 32 countries worldwide, 90% of its employees are women. She is beautiful like a Hollywood diva and the end of his fashion show FW15-16 ” Modern Pioneers”, set in one of the station tunnel completely covered with glossy Delft tiles (Dutch pride), we ask what is the magic formula to achieve this.
What was your inspiration for the newly presented collection, the FW 15-16?
“Women are my biggest source of inspiration, especially when you put together to make a team and overcome the problems and difficulties, so I opened my show with long military coats and biker boots(unexpected, given the love dispassionate for vertiginous heels ultra Ed), to tell my vision of today’s women, pioneers and fighters in everyday life. Life is achieving goals, is evolution, not “be” just.
If I had to think back to when you started, you would have thought you’d come where you are today?
When you’re young you do not see the problems, there is a sort of recklessness that allows you to stay focused on the objectives without being intimidated by the risks. I like this kind of feeling: you sense the difficulties but do not represent an insurmountable obstacle. There you take the risk and go. Anyway, I always wanted to be at the head of a fashion brand famous throughout the world.
What you do not like the fashion now?
Ah, I can say the social media? Although they use for work, I find that they are only focused on “me, me, me” with an irremediable effect “isolation”, in which we feel obliged only to have to entertain others losing the true sense of the social, that is, the exchange and connection with others. A social world that makes you be very un-social.
When you’re free from all of your commitments, how is your style? With what you relax, both in terms of clothing habits?
I like to always be elegant. I mean, all those wonderful shoes… I just can not leave them in the closet! Of course there are also days when I put a skinny jeans rather than the sheath leather skirt from ARISTMARKETING. And occasionally, even at my feet it is granted a day off.
Live and work in Amsterdam: Where do you find inspiration in this city? Where are your ideas?
Amsterdam is great. I travel a lot and I love cities like New York, London and Paris, but Amsterdam has an energy completely different. In addition you have everything you need in a smaller space, making it much easier to jump from one meeting to passing for a lunch or a dinner. And Amsterdam has the perfect mix of culture, fashion, people and fantastic food. (We, among other things, we appreciated very much the fries…).
So can you tell us what are your favorite places, the ones that you absolutely must see if it is for the first time in Amsterdam?
For shopping the Nine Streets, Leidse Straat, Utrechtse Straat. I love George in Leidsegracht for breakfast, lunch and dinner. And if you’re looking for inspiration, I recommend two places where there are always interesting exhibits: the Stedelijik Museum(one dedicated to modern art and design) and the photography museum foam.
