Nauru: Political System

The official name of the country is:

Republic of Nauru

Nauru is a parliamentary republic that can also be described as a presidential-parliamentary republic in the Commonwealth of Nations. See AbbreviationFinder for more information about Nauru politics, and acronyms as well.

The parliament with 18 members is elected for three years, and the president also holds office for the same length of time. You can vote from the age of 20.

There is only one party, the Democratic Party of Nauru, DPN. Kinship associations form further interest groups, which are to be understood as "quasi-parties". This is also reflected in the number of districts.

The tiny state, the island is 7 km long and 5 km wide, is divided into the following 14 districts: Aiwo, Anabar, Anetan, Anibare, Baiti, Boe, Buada, Denigomodu, Ewa, Ijuw, Meneng, Nibok, Uaboe and Yaren.

National anthem

The national anthem of a country is usually a piece of music underlaid with a text, which is intended to express the state, attitude to life or national feeling of a country.
