According to watchtutorials, Eritrea is a small East African nation located on the Red Sea coast. It has an estimated population of 4.5 million people, making it one of the most densely populated countries in Africa. The population is composed largely of two ethnic groups: Tigrinya and Tigre. The Tigrinya make up the majority of the population at around 60%, while the Tigre comprise around 30%. The remaining 10% are made up of other ethnicities such as Afar, Saho, and Kunama. The country’s population is relatively young, with more than 60% under the age of 25. This has led to a high fertility rate and rapid population growth in recent years, though this rate is beginning to slow as access to contraception increases and economic conditions become more stable. In addition to its young population, Eritrea also has a large diaspora spread across Europe and North America as many have fled in search of better economic opportunities abroad. This diaspora is estimated to number around 1 million people, which would double Eritrea’s total population if included in official figures. Eritrea’s literacy rate stands at about 65%, with higher levels among men than women due to gender disparities in educational opportunities within the country. While primary education is officially free for all children between 6-14 years old, many still face financial barriers that prevent them from attending school or completing their studies on time.
