According to watchtutorials, Kyrgyzstan is a Central Asian nation located between China and Kazakhstan. It has a population of 6,324,900 people according to the 2019 census. The population is relatively young with an average age of 26.5 years. Kyrgyzstan is ethnically diverse and is home to over 80 different ethnic groups. The largest group is the Kyrgyz, who make up around 70% of the population. Other ethnic groups include Russians (14%), Uzbeks (9%), Dungans (2%), Uyghurs (1%) and many other smaller minorities. Kyrgyzstan has a high fertility rate with an average of 2.7 children per woman, which contributes to its growing population size. The country’s mortality rate is also relatively low at 7 deaths per 1,000 people in 2019. Life expectancy at birth in Kyrgyzstan stands at 72 years for men and 77 years for women according to World Bank estimates from 2020. The majority of the population lives in rural areas with only 37% living in urban centers such as Bishkek, Osh and Jalal-Abad. Rural poverty remains a challenge with around 40% of the rural population living below the national poverty line compared to just 16% in urban areas.
