The majority of Mauritians are Hindu, followed by Christians and Muslims. English is the official language of Mauritius, but French and Creole are also widely spoken. The main exports are clothing and textiles, sugarcane products, seafood, chemicals and light industrial goods such as electronics components. The government has been actively investing in infrastructure development to attract foreign investments which have led to an increase in economic growth over the past few decades. As a result, poverty levels have decreased significantly with over 90% of households having access to basic services such as electricity and water supply.
