It is located in the western part of South Asia and is bordered by India, Iran, Afghanistan, and China. The majority of the population is Muslim (96%), with small minorities of Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, and other religions. The official language is Urdu but English and Punjabi are also widely spoken. The average age of the population is 22 years old; more than half of the population is under 25 years old. The literacy rate in Pakistan stands at 58% for males and 38% for females. In terms of ethnicity, Punjabis make up the largest group (44%) followed by Pashtuns (15%), Sindhis (14%), Saraikis (10%), Muhajirs (7%) and Balochs (3%). Pakistan has a diverse culture that reflects its various ethnic groups as well as its religious beliefs. Traditional Pakistani cuisine consists mainly of wheat-based dishes such as chapati, paratha, naan or roti with curries or lentils accompanied by yogurt or pickles.
