According to watchtutorials, Senegal is a West African nation with a population of over 16 million people. It is the most populous country in West Africa and one of the most densely populated countries in Africa. The majority of the population is concentrated in the coastal areas, with nearly half of all Senegalese living in urban areas. The official language is French, although Wolof and other local languages are widely spoken. Most of Senegal’s population is composed of ethnic groups such as the Wolof, Fula, Serer, Jola, and Mandinka. Islam is by far the dominant religion with nearly 90% of the population practicing it while Christianity makes up a small percentage at around 5%. The average life expectancy for males and females is 66 years and 70 years respectively. Education levels are relatively high compared to other African countries, with a literacy rate of over 50%.
