According to watchtutorials, Vanuatu is a small island nation in the South Pacific, located east of Australia and west of Fiji. It has a population of around 300,000 people, making it one of the smallest countries in terms of population. The majority of the population is Melanesian, with other ethnicities such as Polynesian, Micronesian and Chinese also present. The official language is Bislama, but English and French are widely spoken as well. The vast majority of Vanuatu’s population lives in rural areas where subsistence agriculture is still practiced. This includes growing root crops such as taro and yams, as well as raising livestock such as chickens and pigs. Fishing is also important to the economy and lifestyle of many people in Vanuatu. Most households have access to electricity but only about a quarter have access to running water. Education is highly valued in Vanuatu and literacy rates are high for both men and women. There are several universities on the islands that offer courses ranging from engineering to nursing to business administration.
