Wallis and Fotuna: Political System
Wallis and Futuna are French overseas territories.
The official name of the country is:
Territoire des Iles Wallis et Futunaor
Territoires d’outre-mer, TOM |
According to topschoolsintheusa, the island state is the only French territory where traditional monarchy is allowed.
There are three kings, the King of Wallis, Lavelua, the King of Alo and the King of Sigave, Keletaona. The kings sit in the country’s cabinet. The head of state is the French President.
On the islands themselves there is a prefect whose role is comparable to that of the prime ministers in Germany. The cabinet is made up of the three kings mentioned above and three other members appointed by the prefect on the advice of the territorial parliaments. The administrative structure of the country is based on the kingdoms mentioned.

Wallis Futuna: Plants
The three main islands of “Wallis (Uvea) and Futuana” are Wallis with an area of around 76 km², the island of Futuna with an area of 46 km² and the uninhabited island of Alofi with an area of 18 km². They are of volcanic origin and are relatively mountainous.
The evergreen rainforest that originally existed here was significantly decimated by deforestation and clearing. There are only small remnants of the rainforest on Wallis, while there is still 20% rainforest on Futuna and even 60% on the uninhabited island of Alofi. A so-called “toafa”, a vegetation comparable to the macchiea, has spread over the cleared areas. Here you can find casuarines, screw trees and ferns.
