According to watchtutorials, Togo is a small West African nation located on the Gulf of Guinea. It has a population of approximately 7.7 million people, with the majority being concentrated in the coastal region. The population is mainly composed of indigenous tribal groups, such as the Ewe, Mina, and Kabye peoples. The official language is French, although English and other local languages are also spoken. The population of Togo is largely rural, with more than 70% of people living in rural areas. The major cities are Lomé, Sokodé and Kara. Agriculture accounts for the majority of employment in Togo, with around 65% of the population working in this sector. However urbanization has been increasing over recent years due to migration from rural areas to cities in search of employment opportunities and better services. The main crops grown include cassava, maize, millet and yams. Livestock production is also an important part of the agricultural sector in Togo and includes goats, sheep and cattle. In terms of health care access Togo lags behind other West African countries with only 1 doctor per 10 000 people compared to 8 doctors per 10 000 people in neighbouring Ghana according to WHO statistics from 2015-16. Life expectancy at birth stands at 60 years for males and 63 years for females while infant mortality rate stands at 41 deaths per 1 000 live births according to World Bank data from 2018-19.
