According to watchtutorials, North Macedonia is a small country located in the Balkan Peninsula in southeastern Europe. It has a population of 2.1 million people, making it the 126th most populous country in the world. The majority of the population is Macedonian (64%), followed by Albanian (25%), and other ethnic groups such as Serbs, Turks, Bosniaks, Roma, and Aromanians accounting for the remaining 11%. The majority of the population is Orthodox Christian (67%), while Muslims make up 30% and other religious minorities account for 3%. The literacy rate in North Macedonia is 96%, with both boys and girls having equal access to education. Despite this, there is still a large gender gap when it comes to higher education. Women are less likely to pursue higher education than men due to traditional roles that have been ingrained into society over many generations. Furthermore, there are still certain areas of the country where access to education is limited due to poverty or lack of infrastructure. North Macedonia has an aging population with a median age of 43 years old. This has been caused by low fertility rates as well as emigration due to economic reasons or conflict in neighboring countries such as Kosovo or Serbia. Over 1 million people have left North Macedonia since 1991 and this has had a major impact on its economy and society. In addition, there are also refugees from Syria who have sought asylum in North Macedonia due to conflict at home. See iamhigher for Macedonia Population and Language.
