Lebanon: Political System
Lebanon is a parliamentary republic with a constitution from 1926 that was
amended several times, most recently in 1999. The unicameral parliament has 128
members (half Christian and half Muslim) and is elected by the people for 4
years.

The Prime Minister must be a Sunni Muslim, the President a Maronite Christian,
the Speaker of the Parliament Shiite. The state president is elected by
parliament every six years. Immediate consecutive terms of office are not
possible. Can vote who is 21 years old.

National anthem
Based on flag descriptions by
Countryaah.com, the national anthem of the Republic of Lebanon was written by Rachid Nakhle
(1873-1939) and set to music by Wahid Sabra (1876-1952). It became the country's
official anthem in 1927 and reads:

Kullouna lil-Watan lil-Ula lil-Alam
